Golfclubs4cash: DROPPING IN ON ELDORADO FOR A DRIVING IRON

Arriving in Scotland last summer by air, road and sea, Justus and I found ourselves with a day or two to prepare for our first real taste of links golf. Musselburgh would be our base and the charming The Ship Inn our home for two nights. After some fish and chips and a couple of pints, thoughts turned to golf and getting our bodies ready for the 126 holes of golf we had ahead of us. There was a sortie to a driving range and the swing felt ok, the hands ready, but the head held a nagging doubt about how golfers honed on the soft and still conditions of Brandenburg would fare in Scottish wind and on lightning links greens.

And as every golfer knows, the best way to address our fears is to buy more clubs, because that (almost) always helps. Cruising the eastern edge of Edinburgh we came across the straightforwardly named GOLFCLUBS4CASH, housed in a warehouse on an unassuming industrial estate just off the bypass, it is Eldorado to the amateur golfer, an emporium of treasure for those who prefer playing some vintage Mizuno blades to a pro-fitted cavity back. This is not just your local pro shop with a couple of putters and a reduced sleeve of Titleist ‘Trüffel’ Trufeel, this place has everything. We were blown away by the depth of the product range. All the popular irons and woods from the last two or three seasons, some of them gently pre-owned, were available at top prices. An hour later we had new stand-bags, a new 3 wood (to bang it into the Par 5 1st at Dunbar in two on day 1), a driving iron (for that Scottish wind), and three boxes of dead stock Honma’s - otherwise known as the budget Pro V1, and impossible to find in Europe.

Justus’ new Scotty did elude us, the search continued all week, but in every other way GOLFCLUBS4CASH set us up for the week with a smile and a saving. So if you find yourself in Edinburgh (or Warrington) GOLFCLUBS4CASH is a must-visit and strongly recommended by us.
